The task looks straightforward on paper — write to a friend about your gift dilemma — but it quietly tests several things at once: informal letter structure, asking for advice, giving reasons, and closing politely. Missing any of these can cost you points even if your German is otherwise solid.

Bald ist Weihnachten, und Sie finden es wie immer schwierig zu entscheiden, was Sie Ihrem Vater schenken sollen. Sie schreiben deshalb einer Freundin / einem Freund.
You need to cover:
- Beschreiben Sie, was Ihrem Vater gefällt und was er gerne macht.
- Begründen Sie, warum es so schwierig ist, für ihn ein passendes Geschenk zu finden.
- Machen Sie Vorschläge für mögliche Geschenke und bitten Sie um Rat.

Liebe Fleurye,
wie geht’s dir? Gut, hoffe ich, mir geht es ziemlich gut. Du weißt ja, bald ist Weihnachten, und wie immer finde ich es schwierig zu entscheiden, was ich meinem Vater schenken soll. Ihm gefällt nämlich fast alles: Autos, Bücher, Kleidung, Schuhe, Überraschungen. Am liebsten macht er kleine Reparaturen zu Hause und mäht den Rasen. Du siehst also, wie schwer es ist, für ihn ein passendes Geschenk zu finden. Trotzdem würde ich ihm gerne einen Anzug oder ein kleines Werkzeug-Set schenken.
